Farm Life


Hi, I'm an American in Austria. I've been here for about a year now with my family. We live on a farm not far from Graz, near the Slovenian border.

Admittedly, what I will be doing here online will not be terribly unique. I'm sure there are many other folks out there writing about Austria and whatnot.

I'll be offering just my own two cents as it were on the things that I find informative, interesting and/or amusing about stuff in general and dum da dum dum dum, attenCHUN!  LEBEN IN OESTERREICH!

STOPP Kinderhandel

 


Kinderhandel ist eines der schlimmsten Verbrecher der heutigen Zeit. Jährlich werden 1 bis 2 Millionen Kinder weltweit gehandelt.

In Europa sind es etwa 500 000 Kinder, die Dunkelziffern liegen aber sicher höher.

Es gibt eigentlich kein Land, auch nicht Oesterreich, das nicht vom Kinderhandel betroffen ist. Die Staaten dieser Welt sind Herkunftsländer, Transitländer oder Zielländer, wobei die Grenzen nicht definitiv gezogen werden können. Immerhin 40% der betroffenen Staaten sind zur selben Zeit Herkunfts- und Zielländer.

Oesterreich ist vor allen Dingen Transitland - Tor zur Europäischen Union und dem Schengen Raum. Oesterreich ist aber auch Zielland für etwa 500 bis 700 Kinder jährlich - Tendenz steigend. Hauptsächlich werden Kinder aus Bulgarien und Rumänien gehandelt, aber auch China ist ein Herkunftsland so wie eine Vielzahl von afrikanischen Ländern.
